Welcome to TRPA's Stormwater Management Program
Lake Tahoe’s famed clarity is declining at an alarming rate largely due to soil erosion and stormwater runoff associated with urban development. Science shows that implementing Best Management Practices, or BMPs, on existing development is a critical step toward improving Lake Tahoe’s water quality and clarity. To protect Lake Tahoe for future generations, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency requires all developed parcels to install and maintain BMPs. Thousands of properties already have them in place, have you done your BMPs?
The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency’s Erosion Control Team has recently changed its name to the Stormwater Management Program (SMP). Recent updates to the strategic goals and direction of the TRPA prompted the updated name, which better describes our program goals. Current staffing and management personnel are unchanged.
