About the Stormwater Management Program
The Stormwater Management Program (SMP) staff works with property owners, private businesses, and government agencies to advance effective BMP design and implementation on developed properties. The SMP, a program of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, is funded primarily through grants from the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, Nevada Division of State Lands, California State Water Resources Control Board, California Department of Water Resources, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.

TRPA’s Environmental Improvement Program (EIP)
The Environmental Improvement Program was highlighted during the 1997 Presidential Summit at Lake Tahoe. President Clinton and others convened here to focus efforts on protecting the lake for future generations. The resulting program encompasses hundreds of capital improvement, research, program support, and operation and maintenance projects in the Tahoe Basin, all designed to help restore Lake Tahoe's clarity and environment. EIP projects are designed to achieve and maintain environmental thresholds that protect Tahoe’s unique and valued resources. For more information, visit the
